New finance chief appointed at Johnston Press

Regional publisher Johnston Press has appointed a new chief financial offiecr to replace Stuart Paterson who is retiring later this month.

Grant Murray is moving from his current position as interim group chief financial officer at Guardian Media Group to take over the role.

The 46-year-old will join the Johnston Press board with effect from 3 May, while Mr Paterson leaves the Board on 15 March.

Mr Murray is a previous chief financial officer at Channel 5 and finance director at United’s Broadcasting and Entertainment Division.

JP chief executive John Fry said: “The Board is confident that Grant will prove to be a worthy successor to Stuart.

“His impressive credentials with substantial senior financial experience within the media sector will serve us well in the future.”

    Why do JP need a finance chief when they are always claiming to have no money?

    Perhaps that money will come in the form of a Grant? Apologies… it is Friday.
