Name change for community news website

A community news website that has evolved from a blog into an “important news resource” has changed its name.

The Lichfield Blog, founded two and a half years ago, has now become Lichfield Live.

Founder Ross Hawkes said: “It’s been a big step to shake off the log title, but we think the time is right. The content we produce has evolved and so we felt it was a good time for the site to do the same.”

Commenting on the change, local MP Michael Fabricant said: “This is great news. You are not a blog: you are an important news resource. Keep up the good work!”

It certainly looks more professional and a heck of a lot smarter than the average blog – and is going in for more news content at a time when the local Northcliffe site appears to have abandoned links with (what’s left of) its local 196-year-old newspaper and become just a parish-pump noticeboard for any random amateur posting or rant.
