Media Awards for Yorkshire and Humber launched

The best journalists across Yorkshire and The Humber are set to be recognised with the launch of this year’s regional O2 Media Awards.

Established in 2009, the contest has grown in size each year and is designed the most talented people in the media industry across 14 categories.

Journalists working for newspapers, television, radio and digital news sites are now being encouraged to enter the contest by the 10 May deadline.

The Yorkshire Post last year retained its Newspaper of the Year title and won three other awards.

Glenn Manoff, director of communications, reputation and sustainability for O2, said: “The standard of regional journalism in Yorkshire and The Humber is unparalleled and we are always immensely impressed by the quality of the work we receive.

“O2 plays a major role in keeping communities connected. That’s why we’re delighted to once again recognise the achievements and professionalism of those working in the media industry through the O2 Media Awards.”

Categories include Reporter of the Year, Photographer of the Year and Editorial Team of the Year, while there is also a special achievement award for an outstanding journalist who has made a lasting contribution to the industry.

Dave, we welcome all entries including freelance contributors. Just send us the material and a covering note. Look out, too, for the special achievement award. We want to cover all those in the business including behind-the-scenes.
