Job cuts in prospect at South Wales publisher

Up to nine jobs have been placed at risk of redundancy in a restructure at a series of daily and weekly titles in South Wales.

Publisher Newsquest wants to reorganise the editorial and advertising departments at its East Wales division, which includes the South Wales Argus.

It is understood that four editorial and five advertising posts have been placed at risk of redundancy.

The editorial posts under threat are believed to include staff from a production hub responsible for subbing the Argus and its sister weeklies in Gwent.

Kevin Ward, publisher of Newsquest East Wales and Gloucestershire, said: “Newsquest East Wales has this week proposed restructures in our editorial and advertising departments.

“Unfortunately these proposals have placed a number of jobs at risk. We are in consultation with affected staff.”

Seems like more subs are needed, not fewer.

    Yes, Casper.

A vitally important grammatical point you’ve raised there.

I’m sure the redundant staff will talk of nothing else as they sign on the dole.
