ITN presenter to address journalism students

Award-winning news presenter Mark Austin will be the keynote speaker at this year’s National Council for the Training of Journalists’ Student Council forum.

The ITV News at Ten presenter will deliver an address to students at the event on 11 February, as long as he has returned from covering the protests in Egypt.

He will speak at the annual forum, to be held at the Press Association in London, which gives students chance to share their views with senior NCTJ staff.

Mark began his journalism career as a reporter for the Bournemouth Echo after completing an NCTJ course at Highbury College.

He then worked as both a news and sports reporter for the BBC before being offered a position as sports correspondent for ITN.

During his career, Mark has reported on major events throughout the world and replaced Sir Trevor McDonald on News at Ten when the veteran newsreader stepped down at the end of 2008.
