Would-be journalists in Ireland are being encouarged to apply for a free course at Belfast Metropolitan College.
The college is thought to be the only one in Europe where the National Council for the Training of Journalists’ National Diploma is available free of charge to EU residents.
Course leader Maurice Neill said that suitable applicants had been slow in coming forward this year, possibly because of the mistaken belief there are substantial fees in the UK.
Graduates, or people with some experience of journalism, can apply online and a final round of interviews will be held in August to facilitate late applicants. More details at http://www.belfastmet.ac.uk/
