Fish4 boss moves to rival publisher

Regional publisher Johnston Press has poached the boss of property, jobs and motors platform Fish4 to become its new digital classifieds boss.
Joe Slavin has been appointed to the newly-created post of digital classifieds managing director, the company announced yesterday.

Joe was previously chief executive of Fish4.co.uk, now wholly owned by Trinity Mirror, and prior to that was managing director of Monster (UK and Ireland).

A graduate of St John’s University, New York, he will now be responsible for Johnston Press’s digital classifieds business, with a particular focus on online recruitment.

JP’s digital and business development director Henry Faure Walker asid: “We are delighted to welcome Joe to Johnston Press who brings with him a strong track record in digital classifieds and in particular online recruitment.

“With our online jobs platform now generating in excess of one million monthly visitors, we are in a good position to accelerate our revenues from digital recruitment and Joe will be working with us to help make that happen.”

Any chance of beefing up the reporting side of things (you know, um, journalism) – or are the spoils to be shared between jumped-up little ad reps, plush pool cars and spacious offices for the ‘big hitters’?
