Debate over ‘threat’ of social media

The threats of social media to print journalism will be discussed at an event in Manchester tomorrow.

The Manchester Salon, which hosts monthly discussions on current affairs, will hold the debate looking at the struggle facing regional and national newspapers and how journalism is taking on new forms in the digital age.

Leading the debate will be Brendan O’Neill, editor of Spiked online, who will examine the challenges posed by online publishing, while former BBC journalist Louise Bolotin, who runs website Inside the M60, will also speak.

The event takes place at Blackwell University bookshop, Oxford Road, Manchester, on Tuesday at 6.45pm. Tickets, which cost £5, are available at the store by contacting 0161 274 3331 or for further information, email Simon Belt at [email protected].
