Council scraps monthly magazine to cut costs

A council has scrapped its monthly magazine as part of cost-cutting measures to help it save £65m.

Hull City Council has now published the last edition of Hull in print and is encouraging residents to get information about the authority on its website, which has had a homepage redesign.

It is the latest authority to scrap or reduce the number of its publications and comes after the government’s plans to introduce a four-a-year limit on council newspapers cleared both houses of Parliament.

On Hull in print’s website it says: “This is the last issue of Hull in print after a decision was taken to cease production as a way of helping the council to meet savings targets of £65m.”
