Trio of reporters hoping to reach new Peaks

Three reporters are hoping to scale new heights later this year when they take on the Three Peaks Challenge.

Keyan Milanian, Jenni Horn and Sarah Shaffi, from the Medway Messenger, are planning to climb the three highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales in one day for the charity CPC Kent.

The organisation, of which comedian Joe Pasquale is a patron, provides special needs services and educational support to people of all ages who suffer from a range of disabilities.

The challenge will start at 6am on 8 May on Ben Nevis in Scotland, move on to Scafell Pike in Cumbria before finishing the following morning at the top of Snowdon in Wales.

The reporters are trying to raise £1,500 for CPC Kent, which requires £250,000 from voluntary donations to keep its centre near Rochester going every year.

Keyan said: “CPC Kent is a great charity and the more we learn about them the more we see how essential their work is.

“We wanted to do something to help them, and the Three Peaks Challenge is the perfect way to raise money and raise their profile.”

Medway Messenger editor Bob Bounds said: “It’s great to see our reporters getting involved with a local charity and supporting a much-needed cause.

“With the generous support of our readers I think the three will reach their fundraising target and maybe even smash it.”

The trio can be sponsored at JustGiving.com/messengerclimb and their blog chronicling their training can be read here.
