Journalists can find out more about how to gain stories from Freedom of Information requests with a course in London next month.

The Campaign for Freedom of Information is running a training course for new and experienced requesters.

It will be run in two parts, with the morning providing an introduction to the legislation around the Freedom of Information Act and the Environmental Information Regulations.

And the afternoon session will look at some of the key Information Tribunal and Commissioner decisions on issues such as whether the names of officials can be withheld and arguing the public interest case.

The sessions will be run in central London on 16 September by the Campaign’s director Maurice Frankel and research officer Katherine Gundersen.
