The Press Association has created a new role of chief technology officer overseeing the way it delivers content across all platforms.

Andrew Dowsett joined the agency from Bauer consumer media this week and will report to its chief exectuive, Clive Marshall.

He is the first CTO to be appointed to PA’s senior executive team and will be based in the company’s London office.

Andrew’s remit will span the breadth of PA activities including the delivery of text, images and video content across digital, print and broadcast platforms.

He said: “My objective at the Press Association is simple – to deliver the best possible IT function to benefit both staff and customers alike.

“I look forward to working with the technology team and developing talent to meet the diverse needs of PA’s businesses and customers.”

Clive Marshall added: “Andrew’s depth of experience in both media and technology make him ideally suited for this wide-ranging role.

“I have no doubt he will be a great asset to the company. His appointment to our senior executive team reflects our determination to capitalise fully on the role technology can play across every aspect of our business.”

Before joining PA Andrew worked as operations and technology director for magazine and online publisher Bauer.
