New regional press cartoon service launched

A new daily cartoon service is today being launched at HoldtheFrontPage in conjunction with award-winning cartoonist Higgins.

For less than £8.50 a day you can run Higgins cartoons in your newspaper six days a week – and there’s no extra charge to display them on your website.

Higgins – full name Liam Higgins Saunders – has been a cartoonist for more than 30 years after starting out on the North West Evening Mail in Barrow under its then editor Tom Welsh.

Now he is launching a cartoon service exclusively for the local and regional press through HoldtheFrontPage, the home of UK regional journalism news.

Daily and weekly editors will be able to order his cartoons via the site, with the latest cartoons available to view on our new Daily News Cartoon page.

Rates are around a tenth of the usual cost of UK syndication, with six cartoons a week available to regional daily editors at a weekly cost of £50.

Weekly editors can purchase either one cartoon for £12 or two for £20, while one-off sales are also priced at £20.

If you would like to commission Higgins’ cartoons for your newspaper, or if you would simply like to find out more, please email [email protected] or call 01332 253064.

Said Higgins: “When I came up with the idea of producing a daily news cartoon exclusively for local and regional press use, I knew from my own experience as a journalist that the only place to launch it would be HoldtheFrontPage. They have the coverage, the audience and apparently a sense of humour.

“I’m absolutely delighted that they agreed to syndicate, and I’m looking forward to baring my scribbles to you daily via their website.”

“These cartoons are just one more reason for potential readership, lost readership and loyal readership to pick up your newspaper instead of someone else’s.”

HoldtheFrontPage publisher Paul Linford added: “These cartoons would add value to any newspaper and I am delighted to be able to promote them through our site.”
