New marketing head appointed for NCTJ

A new marketing expert has been appointed for the National Council for the Training of Journalists.

Emma Hart, left, has joined the training organisation as its marketing and communications manager and will be based at its Essex headquarters.

She has worked with many blue chip companies on their portfolios and her previous role was at Ignition – a learning and communications agency based in Hertfordshire.

Emma replaces Glen Oldershaw, who left the role in the summer, after originally joining the NCTJ last year as its head of accreditation, before taking on the marketing post last September.

NCTJ chief executive Joanne Butcher said: “Emma joins us at a time when the NCTJ is going through massive amounts of change.

“As our new marketing and communications expert she will play a pivotal role at the NCTJ and with her successful track-record has the potential to make an enormous contribution to our work.”

Emma is a graduate from CASS Business School at City University, London, and is experienced at working within the training and communications industries.

In her new role, she will be responsible for promoting the work of the charity as well as developing future marketing strategies and new media communications.

Emma said: “I am very excited to be joining the NCTJ and am looking forward to developing campaigns in support of world-class training and qualifications for journalists.”
