New deal for publisher's sports division

Trinity Mirror’s Sport Media division has agreed a new deal with Chelsea FC to publish its official magazine and match day programme.

Following the recent two-year book deal agreed between the two, the press publisher has now won a three-year contract which commences in July.

Sport Media will manage a dedicated team of writers based at both the club’s stadium Stamford Bridge and training ground in Surrey as well as graphic artists and advertising sales staff.

The team will report to Emma Wilkinson, Chelsea FC’s head of communications and community affairs.

Chelsea publish 12 monthly magazines, which are sent to over 45,000 members and season ticket holders and available on the High Street, and around 25 matchday programmes each year.

Sport Media business development director Mark Dickinson said: “The opportunity to work closely with a top team like Chelsea over the next three years is one we approach with relish, and we can’t wait to get started. We have loads of great ideas.”

Chelsea Digital Media’s MD Cas Knight added: “We are looking forward to working with Sport Media – their approach has been really professional and their enthusiasm is infectious.”
