London weekly goes online-only for Christmas

A London weekly is taking a break from print and putting out an online-only Christmas Eve edition tomorrow.

The Richmond and Twickenham Times, normally a part-free, part paid-for title, is making all its content available for free via its weekly digital edition.

The move was announced in a story in last week’s paper which hit the streets on Friday.

It said: “This week your favourite newspaper will only be available as a digital edition on our website. The Christmas Eve edition of the Richmond and Twickenham Times will be available on Friday at rttimes.co.uk.”

The e-edition, produced by Pagesuite, will also be available for viewing here from tomorrow.

No-one from the paper responded to requests for a comment on the move.

Meanwhile the RTT has been keeping readers up to date with the travails of its local MP, Vince Cable, via its website.

Business secretary Dr Cable came close to losing his Cabinet job this week after what Prime Minister David Cameron called “unacceptable” comments to undercover reporters.
