HoldtheFrontPage journalist moves on

HoldtheFrontPage reporter Tamlyn Jones is moving on to a new role next week after two-and-a-half years with the site.

Tamlyn, left, joined HTFP in November 2007 from the Shropshire Star having begun his journalism career on the Wolverhampton Chronicle.

Now he is taking up a position as business correspondent of TheBusinessDesk.com’s new West Midlands portal from Monday.

He will be part of a three-man team producing up-to-the-minute business news for the region alongside editor Marc Reeves, the former editor of the Birmingham Post, and his deputy Duncan Tift.

Said Tamlyn: “Charting the ups and downs of the regional press for the past two-and-a-half years has been an extremely interesting, and at times, saddening experience. However, I have enjoyed greatly meeting and interviewing such a varied range of people and of course being involved in running HTFP’s three annual awards.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank every person I have encountered for their time and help in preparing stories as I look forward to a new chapter and challenge with TheBusinessDesk.com.”

HoldtheFrontPage publisher Paul Linford added: “Tamlyn has brought a huge degree of commitment and professionalism to our news operation over the past two-and-a-half years and I am sure the experience he has gained in covering the regional press industry will stand him in very good stead in his new role.”

Tamlyn’s successor will be announced in due course.

I’m sure Tamlyn was very good at his job but does his departure (after only 2 years in the post) really warrant coverage?

He’s made an exceptional contribution to the site and it’s entirely appropriate that this should be recognised here.

Congrats Tamlyn. Hope your successor is as on the ball as you and thanks for all your coverage.
