Friday Funnies: Someone's a poet but doesn't know it

Good news comedy seekers as HTFP is able to bring you its second dose of press and media funnies for 2010 – and we’re not even out of January yet.

And to make matters even better, our Friday Funnies inbox has been overflowing with gaffes and mirthful moments of late so keep checking back in the coming weeks for more merriment.

But for now please scroll down to enjoy the latest images and keep them coming to: [email protected]. Thanks as always.

We’re off to Lancashire and this chilling a tale of a scandalous hostelry customer who had the shocking nerve to use its toilet facilities….well, we’re assuming he made it to the lav in time (from Ormskirk Advertiser):

We realise this story dates back a few months but we’ve only just received an email to HTFP Towers with this beautifully poetic (and ironically misspelt) A-board from the Manchester Evening News.

And sticking with all things language related, how about the spelling in a blog post from Northern Echo editor Peter Barron…..which again, somewhat ironically, focuses on correct use of the mother tongue:

Thankfully, we took a screen grab from his blog before somebody calling themselves “Spode” (perhaps his/her parents didn’t like him/her) pointed out to Peter the error of his ways……which he took with good grace.

You will need very good eyesight to spot anything missing from this Belfast Telegraph story…..

…..so let us giving you a helping hand:

Finally, a heart-warming tale from the Grimsby Telegraph about the wife of MP Austin Mitchell and her battle with cancer. Could that NHS ad have been placed in a more appropriate position?

Google’s clever systems are sometimes too clever for their own good and produce some unforgiveable juxtapositions which would never pass a print edition. A recent fatal RTA in our local evening paper produced three keyword-generated Google ads underneath: one for accident repair; one for ambulance-chasing insurers and one for car insurance. Shocking.
