Food promotion role for former Newsquest executive

A former newspaper company executive has taken on a new voluntary role promoting local food produce after taking early retirement from his job.

Michael Wright recently stepped down as managing director of Newsquest Dorset, publisher of the Dorset Echo.

He has now taken over as chairman of Hampshire Fare, a marketing consortum representing around 200 local food and drink producers, hospitality venues and shops.

He said: “I am delighted to have this opportunity. I intend to work with the team to develop and strengthen our brand across Hampshire for the benefit of our members.”

Mr Wright, who lives in Hampshire, takes over from Derek Beaves, himself retiring after ten years in the role.

Mr Beaves said: “I am proud to hand over the reins to Michael who, I am sure, will continue this most successful and important initiative.”
