Ex-Crain's boss Brauner back in editor's chair

The former boss of a North-West business site which folded this summer has returned to the newspaper world as a weekly editor.

Steve Brauner has taken over as editor of Johnston Press titles The Visitor, Morecambe, and the Lancaster Guardian.

Until June he was editor of the pioneering business publication Crains Manchester Business before its owners pulled the plug on the venture.

Before taking over at Crains in 2008, he spent more than five years as editor of the North-West Evening Mail in Barrow-in-Furness.

Said Steve: “I am thrilled to be in the editor’s chair at not one but two of the best weekly titles in the North West.

“The Visitor and the Guardian have long and proud traditions of serving the community and enjoy tremendous loyalty from their combined readership of more than 69,500.

“I am looking forward to working with the dedicated team which produces the two papers as well as TheVisitor.co.uk and LancasterGuardian.co.uk.”

The move is a homecoming of sorts for Steve, who was born at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary before growing up in Manchester.
