Divisional MD at newspaper group quits suddenly

A divisional managing director at regional newspaper publisher Johnston Press has stepped down from the position suddenly.

Chris Green was the group’s divisional managing director for the North but an announcement to staff across the company yesterday said he had decided to stand down.

The internal memo from chief operating officer Danny Cammiade did not give the full reasons for his departure, but indicated it was related to a possible reorganisation at the publisher.

It stated: “Following discussions regarding a proposed group reorganisation, Chris Green, Divisional Managing Director North, has decided to step down from his position.

“A further announcement will be made in due course. Meantime, all those who reported direct to Chris Green will report to me on an interim basis.”

Mr Green was also managing director of Yorkshire Post Newspapers.

Johnston Press declined to comment.

Good riddance! Maybe there’s hope for JP after all.

It shows that no one is safe from the mighty axe wielded by JP. Difference is, he will receive a generous “goodbye” payment, unlike most of those who have been culled recently.
