Dedicated MDs for Midlands newspaper centres

Two newspaper centres in the East Midlands have regained their own dedicated managing directors after 18 months in which the roles were combined.

Joanne Glynn, at that time MD of the Derby Telegraph, was given additional charge of the Nottingham Post on Christmas Eve 2008.

Meanwhile Michelle Gesell then moved from the role of advertisement director at The Sentinel, Stoke, to become acting MD in Derby.

Now Michelle has been given the role on a permanent basis, enabling Joanne to focus solely on Nottingham.

The announcement was made by publisher Northcliffe Media’s Northern regional managing director Phil Inman, who said the Nottingham business in particular still posed “significant challenges.”

He said: “It has become clear that Nottingham requires a dedicated managing director and I am delighted that Joanne has accepted the challenge to continue to focus full time on Nottingham, on a permanent basis.”

“During the past seven months Michelle Gesell has been running the Derby business day to day as acting managing director.

“Derby has benefited from the increased focus that a full time MD has provided and I am delighted to be able to announce that Michelle has accepted the offer to become managing director for Derby.”
