Deadline fast approaching for annual photo prize

The deadline for the fifth annual Press Photographer’s Year awards is rapidly approaching.

Entrants have until this Friday to gather together their finest shots for the 16 different prize categories, run in association with the British Press Photographers’ Association.

All those images will then be considered for the top prize of photograph of the year whose previous winners include Daniel Berehulak from Getty Images in 2008 while last year Mark Waugh, from the Manchester Evening News, took home the arts prize.

Entries are welcomed from professional photographers based in the UK, irrespective of nationality, and those who are not UK-based must either be working predominantly for the UK media, be UK or Irish citizens or submitting work commissioned by a UK media organisation.

The prize-winning images, along with the jury’s edit, will be shown in a major exhibition at the National Theatre on London’s South Bank from 10 July to 12 September.
