Capital weekly expands onto neighbouring patch

A local press publisher has launched its latest new free weekly title in the capital.

Archant London’s Stoke Newington Gazette comes hot on the heels of the recent launch of the Brentwood Recorder and Loughton and Buckhurst Hill Recorder.

Archant says the Gazette will cater to readers “who want some entertainment value from their newspaper as well as sufficient coverage of significant news events” in the Hackney borough.

Group editor Malcolm Starbrook said: “The Stoke Newington Gazette is a sister paper of our already successful weekly Hackney Gazette.

“But this new edition is designed to cater specifically for just one part of the borough.

“The Stoke Newington Gazette will be hand-delivered free to people returning home from the area’s main rail and bus connections using our dedicated and high-profile distribution team.”

The first edition contained 16-pages of editorial and advertisement changes.

Archant said that, financially speaking, the Gazette had proved to be the strongest performing new title in a range of so-called ‘brand-to-hand’ launches in recent months in its London stable.

The web team at Archant London’s HQ in Ilford has also developed a dedicated website at stokenewingtongazette.co.uk.
