Business website gains 10,000 users in 10 months

A specialist business news website has clocked up its 10,000th registered user just ten months after it was set up.

TheBusinessDesk.com started its West Midlands portal in February with former Birmingham Post editor Marc Reeves at the helm.

Now the site is celebrating after gaining 10,000 registered users in the region signing up to its free business news service, including company owners, senior managers and professionals across all industry sectors.

TheBusinessDesk.com was set up by former Yorkshire Post business editor David Parkin in 2007 and already had portals in Yorkshire and the North-West when the West Midlands one was launched – now having more than 55,000 users in total.

Marc said: “I think it’s fantastic to go from a standing start to a readership of this size and quality in such a short time.

“So many friends and colleagues in the business community remark that they think TheBusinessDesk.com has been around for much longer, which I think says something about the impact we have made in 2010.”

Big Bob, you were a bit harsh on confused. People reading newspapers don’t always look at the ads, same when ads flash up online. Traditional newspapers, when they eventually ‘got it’ have been trying through their own websites to make cash, with little success. But good luck to TheBusinessDesk.com. At least they have the guts to give the business a go.

@Duffo: Yes, you’re right, not everyone does look at the ads. But if there are no ads at all then there’s nothing for people to look at and be influenced by….and there’s no money going into thebusinessdesk’s coffers. These are all inter-linked so fo
