Agency move for former Sunday news editor

A former news editor of Scotland on Sunday has become the latest recruit to a growing Edinburgh-based news agency.

Peter Laing, who ran the SoS newsdesk for eight years until 2009, is joininig Deadline Press and Picture Agency as chief reporter.

Peter started his career on local newspapers in the south of England before getting a job on the Edinburgh Evening News in 1992.

He moved to the Daily Record in 1996, where he first teamed up with Shaun Milne, Scott Douglas and Raymond Notarangelo – all now colleagues at Deadline.

Consulting managing editor Shaun said: “We view Peter’s capture as a real coup and look forward to the added dimension and dynamism he will bring as we look to further enhance the service we provide to the nation’s media.”

The agency is to rebrand itself as Deadline News as part of a wider restructure which will see an improved website, downloadable photo archives and further editorial appointments.
