One in five Londoners believe God created Man while one in four Northern Irelanders subscribe to the same theory.

Research shows the two regions are the most creationist while the East of England is the most science friendly with 44pc believing Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution.

2009 is also the 200th anniversary of the birth of Darwin.
