Weekly newspaper office to close

A South Wales weekly newspaper is moving out of its town to a sister office on Friday.

The Penarth Times, the paper where BBC presenter John Humphrys started his career, will join its Newsquest colleagues at the Barry and District News.

A statement on the Penarth Times website said: “Sadly, we must announce that, as a result of the current economic conditions, the Penarth Times office in Stanwell Road is to close.

“Readers can be reassured that publication of the Penarth Times will continue as normal, and our commitment to bringing you all the news and views from the town, and the surrounding areas, remains as strong as ever.

“The editorial team and front counter staff will be based in our office in Barry, along with the staff of our sister title the Barry and District News. The move will not affect the paper.”
