Wanted: local newspaper billboard snaps

The BBC is inviting people to send in examples of newspaper billboards as part of a project to document a week in local news.

It wants members of the public to upload their pictures of billboards to the photo sharing website Flickr by clicking here.

Contributions should be tagged with the name of the newspaper and the place where the picture was taken.

Alternatively, if you are not on Flickr, you can e-mail your pictures to [email protected].

The Corporation only wants very recent pictures, so unfortunately classics such as the example pictured above from the Daily Mail and Leicester Mercury are not eligible.

A BBC spokesman said: “The billboard need not be amusing or dramatic but must have been taken in the last seven days

“As many local papers struggle for survival, we are asking readers to help us document a week in local news around the UK.”

What exactly is this puzzled initiative by the British Bias Corporation going to achieve?

In these times of difficulty over newspaper sales our company has taken the insane decision to scrap billboards altogether and make circulation staff redundant
