Tindle unveils latest newspaper acquisition

Newspaper entrepreneur Sir Ray Tindle has bought another of the monthly community newspapers published under the ‘View From’ banner.

Earlier this year, Tindle Newspapers purchased four ‘View From’ titles covering the towns of Axminster, Seaton, Honiton and Crewkerne in a deal that safeguarded 20 jobs.

Now the group has bought the monthly View From Blackdown Hills which circulates on the Devon/Somerset border.

Sir Ray said he was delighted with the new acquisition which extends his titles’ circulation area in the South West.

“This Blackdown Hills paper is an excellent editorial and advertising publication and we are proud to have it in our family,” he said

“There is a big future for these community newspapers.”

Brian Doel, Tindle group managing director, added: “We much look forward to working with the Blackdown Hills business community and the Blackdown Hills area of outstanding beauty.

“This newspaper is very local community based and will fit very well with the four ‘View From’ papers we bought earlier this year. It will strengthen our position in the Devon and Somerset areas.”

The ‘View From’ titles were built up from scratch by Philip Evans after he left Tindle-owned Pulman’s Weekly News six years ago.
