Theatre auction at Meet the Media event

An auction in aid of a theatre company is being held as part of the Birmingham Press Club’s latest ‘Meet the Media’ event.

Memorabilia including Sir Ben Kingsley’s Oscars pass will be auctioned off to raise funds for Warwick-based theatre group Playbox which fosters the talents of young people wanting to work in film and theatre.

The regular Meet the Media events enable the locally-based press and media to meet the business community and cultivate better relations.

Press Club chairman John Lamb said: “This is intended to be a light-hearted start to the week.

“We’ve staged Meet the Media events before, of course, and they have proved very popular – I’m sure this one will be no exception. There will be free drinks and nibbles.

“As well as the networking, we shall be holding the auction for Playbox, which does a great job of encouraging young people who have creative talent and might want to set out on a career in the performing arts.

“We’ll also be unveiling our new web site, which will help improve the way the Press Club communicates with its ever growing membership base.”

It is not yet known who from the local media will be attending.

The event is on 7 September at the Hyatt, in Birmingham city centre. Further details can be found on the Press Club website.
