Quartet of accolades for Edinburgh University

Edinburgh University enjoyed a bumper night at the annual Scottish Student Press Awards taking home four awards.

Simon Mundy was crowned student journalist of the year, winning £500 and a four-week placement at Glasgow daily The Herald, the competition’s organisers.

He also took home best feature writer for his articles in student paper The Journal while his Edinburgh peer Sarah Morrison won best news writer.

Her stories in The Student, which also won best newspaper, earned her a one-week placement with The Herald.

Janette Harkess, deputy editor of The Herald and judging panel chair, said: “These awards are a vital showcase for the best in student journalism, and we are extremely grateful to our sponsors.”

The 13th awards ceremony was held on Tuesday night in Glasgow. See below for the full list of winners:
