Paper goes green for eco-festival weekend

A weekly paper in Scotland changed its masthead from blue to green to mark the country’s biggest eco festival this weekend.

The Fife Free Press launched its ‘eco-friendly’ look to coincide with the publication of the official guide to Big Tent ’09, which is expected to attract 10,000 people to the area.

The paper’s 24-page supplement, written by its editorial team, also doubles as the official programme and souvenir copies will be handed out over the two-day event.

And the environmental theme will continue with the launch of a new companion site greenfife.co.uk.

Editor Allan Crow told HTFP: “The whole FFP team pulled out all the stops to create a fantastic supplement – and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with the festival organisers on this project. It’s one of the best supplements we have ever done.

“The idea of turning our masthead green came in an early discussion with them – we wanted to mark the event in a unique way, and the feedback has been very positive.”

Big Tent was launched on the back of the G8 Summit in Gleneagles four years ago and it is now rated as one of the best festivals in the UK.

It is set in the grounds of Falkland Palace and features eight different ‘zones’ including food, live music and keynote speakers.
