New step up for Western Mail editor

Western Mail editor Alan Edmunds has been given a new strategic role overseeing the development of all Trinity Mirror’s newspaper businesses in South Wales.

Alan is to take on the role of publishing director, Media Wales, in addition to his existing job as Mail editor.

He will report to Sara Wilde, managing director of Trinity Mirror North West and Wales, and become a key member of the new North West and Wales senior executive team

The new division was recently created from a merger of Media Wales with Trinity’s North Wales and North West operations.

In a company statement, Trinity said Alan would be taking on responsibility “for the strategic development of Trinity Mirror’s portfolio and business in South Wales and for the day-to-day management of activity and business performance.”

The other senior editorial managers in Media Wales, South Wales Echo editor Mike Hill, Wales on Sunday editor Tim Gordon, and business development editor Simon Farrington will continue to report to Alan.

Said Alan: “I’m delighted to take on this new role and look forward to further developing Media Wales’ portfolio across the South Wales region.

“We remain committed to providing quality journalism and unrivalled media coverage of Wales, both in print and online.”
