New PCC chair to host open day event

Nottingham Evening Post editor Malcolm Pheby will join the new chairman of the Press Complaints Commission at a public meeting this month.

Baroness Peta Buscombe will chair the meeting which will be her first public engagement since taking over the role in April.

The event in Nottingham is part of the PCC’s bid to raise its profile and will be the first such meeting to be held in the East Midlands.

The first session starts at 2.30pm and is designed to allow members of the public to have a private, informal chat with a member of PCC staff.

This will be followed an hour later by a Q&A session on all aspects of press reporting. The panel comprises Mr Pheby, PCC director Tim Toulmin and Vivien Hepworth, one of the PCC’s public commission members.

Nottingham is the 12th city the PCC has visited since it began a programme of regional public meetings in 2002.

  • The sessions on 23 June are free and are being held at the Galleries of Justice, in the Lace Market area of the city. For further information and to reserve a place contact Tonia Milton by emailing [email protected] or calling 020 7831 0022.
