New board member at Johnston Press

Johnston Press has appointed Camilla Rhodes to its board of directors.

Camilla, who is a non-executive director of the local newspaper publisher, has held a variety of positions during her media career.

She spent several years with Rupert Murdoch’s News International where she was MD of Times Newspapers for four years, before becoming MD of News Group Newspapers, publisher of the Sun and the News of the World, for a further four years.

In 2005, she set up News Magazines, a standalone magazine publishing division.

Camilla left News International last year to pursue other business opportunities in the media and has previously held positions industry bodies such as the Advertising Standards Authority, the National Readership Survey, the Newspaper Publishers Association and the Newspaper Marketing Association Council.

Johnston Press chairman Ian Russell said: “Camilla has had an enormously successful career in our industry, rising to the most senior levels of News International.

“I am delighted that she is to join our board and I am confident that her very considerable media experience will benefit Johnston Press and further strengthen the Board.”
