Former regional hack launches own PR firm

A former regional press journalist has taken advantage of a recent redundancy to launch his own PR firm.

Mark Roach has worked for several national and regional newspapers including the Observer, Daily Express, Nottingham Evening Post, Liverpool Daily Post and Reading Evening Post.

He started his career at his hometown paper, the Maidenhead Advertiser, and later became commercial and community manager at Maidenhead United Football Club until the position was made redundant in January.

He has now launched his own agency Mark Roach Public Relations and got off to a flying start by landing six new clients in the first fortnight.

Said Mark: “I decided to take the plunge and do something that suits my experience and skills. Rather than letting redundancy get me down, I decided to turn it into something positive.

“The recession means many businesses are rethinking how they promote themselves and are finding that affordable PR is a highly effective way to strike a balance between marketing their services while keeping costs down.”
