Ex-regional editor Murray bucks sales trend

Former regional editor Murray Morse is continuing to preside over a sales success story in his new role at the Daily Sport according to latest figures.

While the rest of the industry struggles, the revamped Daily Sport has seen its sales rise 9.4pc since Easter while the Sunday Sport is showing an 11.9pc boost.

Editor-in-chief Murray, who took up the role shortly after quitting the editorship of the Cambridge News last year, described the figures as “nothing short of fantastic”.

He added: “These figures are a tribute to the entire company, coming as they do at a time when we’ve had to make redundancies in all areas.

“What is remarkable about these figures is that they come in a climate where nearly every newspaper in the country, be it national or regional, is suffering falling sales.”

Murray quit as editor of the News in April 2008 shortly before the paper announced the appointment of Colin Grant as editor-in-chief. He took up his current role at the Sport last July.

1)Well done, Murray Morse. Shame the Sport newspapers still carry so much juvenile sex stuff, though.
2)I notice you’ve disabled the comments section for those right-on, left-wing
Scottish nonsense awards. Very wise. People can be very harsh.
