Evening News staff provide some Comic Relief

Reporters at an evening paper swapped their notebooks for microphones in a bid to help raise cash for Red Nose Day.

Two teams of reporters from the Scarborough Evening News recorded their own versions of classic pop songs and posted them on the paper’s website.

They are now asking readers to text in their votes, with the money made donated to Comic Relief.

Each song has its own video made by Evening News photographer Kevin Allen.

The two teams were made up of The Boys – James Hanley and Paul Derrick – and The Girls – Sophie Barley, Kirsty Beever, Laura Crothers and Susan Stephenson.

The Boys sung Valerie by the Zutons while The Girls opted for a cover of Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen.

The Johnston Press-owned daily used local recording studio X Vibz to record the songs.
