Edinburgh editor McLellan to join PCC

Edinburgh Evening News editor John McLellan has been appointed as the new Scottish representative on the Press Complaints Comission, it was announced today.

John will replace Derek Tucker, editor of the Aberdeen Press and Journal, who retired from the Commission at the end of 2008.

He has been been nominated for the PCC by the Scottish Daily Newspaper Society, which has the right to choose one member.

John, who is currently in his second stint as Evening News editor, will be one of seven editors to sit on the 17-member Commission.

Before joining the Evening News, John also worked at The Journal in Newcastle as assistant editor, and at the North West Evening Mail in Barrow as sports editor.

He has been editor of the Evening News since 2004 having previously edited the paper from 1997-2001. In between, he edited Scotland on Sunday for three years.
