Journalism students produced a twoop – a scoop using Twitter – when they learned of DJ Tony Blackburn’s return to Poole.

Students on the fast-track course at Up To Speed Journalism, in Poole, had been following the former Radio 1 legend’s Twitter feed with interest after reviewing movie The Boat that Rocked.

When Mr Blackburn told the virtual world he was off to Poole, the students posted a story on their website Poole People as well as updating their own Twitter feed.

Neighbouring newspaper the Daily Echo, in Bournemouth, then added the story to their own feed.
