Echo confirms office move for October

The Lincolnshire Echo has confirmed that its planned move to new premises in the city is to take place in October.

As reported on HoldtheFrontPage last month, the Northcliffe daily’s existing HQ is to become part of the University of Lincoln.

This week the Echo announced the plans to its readers and confirmed it anticipates that the move will take place in October.

The relocation to the ground floor of Witham Wharf, formerly Wigford House, in Brayford Wharf East, will be the paper’s fourth home in its 116-year history.

It started out at 142 High Street in January 1893 before moving to St Benedict’s Square about four years later.

The paper moved to its current building in Brayford Wharf East, just a stone’s throw away from its new home, in 1984.

Managing director of Lincolnshire Media Mark Price said: “We are absolutely delighted we have this new home for our newspaper and other publications.

“We can now move forward with a confidence and determination that will ensure the continuation of media services to meet the needs and expectations of the people of this county in the years to come.”
