A North West chief reporter is hoping to raise £1,000 by running the world’s biggest half marathon.
Andrew McCreaddie, from the Knutsford Guardian, is teaming up with his sister and the paper’s commercial features editor Andrew Moores to tackle the Great North Run.
Around 52,000 people are expected to cross the start line in Newcastle on 20 September for the 29th run, which was conceived by former British Olympic 10,000m runner Brendan Foster.
The trio are looking to raise £1,000 for premature baby charity Bliss which provides support to premature and sick babies and their families as well as researching care for babies.
Andrew himself was born eight weeks prematurely and he is now writing a blog about his progress towards the run.
The trio are well on their way to surpassing their fundraising total, having so far collected over £500 – to sponsor them visit their online fundraising page.
