BNP targets weekly newspaper's advertisers

The British National Party is urging its supporters to boycott three firms who advertise with a weekly newspaper it has branded “lying left-wing scumbags.”

The News Shopper incurred the wrath of the far-right group when it ran a story about Paul Golding, a BNP councillor on Sevenoaks District Council in Kent, in which residents of his ward claimed he had “done nothing” for the community since his by-election victory in February.

As a result of the story, BNP supporters contacted a bedding company, a double glazer and an electrical goods firm saying they would boycott the trio if they continued advertising with the Newsquest weekly.

The News Shopper says that an email, claiming to be from BNP leader Nick Griffin, was sent to party supporters entitled ‘Time to Fight Back against News Shopper Lies’.

The message described the News Shopper as “a particularly venomous anti-British left-wing propaganda outlet” which had “spewed lies for years.”

When the paper called Coun Golding, he admitted it was in fact him who had created the email.

He said: “I am not speaking to the News Shopper as we think you are a bunch of lying scumbags.

“You are poisoning the minds of south-east London and north Kent with a lot of Labour-created nonsense. You’re a vilifying left-wing gutter newspaper.”

The boycott threat against the News Shopper echoes a similar campaign against local press advertisers earlier this year when BNP supporters contacted clients of the Manchester Evening News.

The paper was running a series of anti-BNP articles in the run-up to the European Elections in June so the party urged its supporters to complain to MEN advertisers in the hope of forcing an editorial U-turn.

Keep at it, News Shopper. Let’s face it, the BNPcretins are going to disappear as soon as they appeared when people realise they’re better off without them. Proper journalism paying off. Love it.

I hope News Shopper staff are just as robust with extreme leftist or Islamic groups which for years have had an easy ride from left-wing journalists in the media.

One surefire way of keeping moronic, bigoted right-wing cretins out of your shop. Good on the Shopper.

    Banjo,
If you took one look at me and my family, you wouldn’t make such a stupid remark.

A perfect way for these firms to make sure they don’t have dealings with brainless right-wing thugs. You’re clearly doing the right, things, News Shopper.

in this modern world, the british government should maintain their world wide reputation by condemning and cancelling this thugs party. They are stains on british white clothing. Weldone News Shopper. The world is behind you.

Onlooker…in that case you should avoid talking about “leftist or Islamic groups” like this. It’s a classic BNP sock-puppet tactic.

so onlooker, you do believe they should be getting a rough as time as far left groups should? Good, we’re agreed then.
