Paving the way to the internet

A £300m scheme to give internet access to children from poorer families has been approved.

The pilot project will be trialled in Suffolk and Oldham from February and could go UK-wide next autumn.

The Government’s thinking behind the project is that the internet is as essential in modern day schooling as the pad and pen.

Grants will pay for computers, software and internet access for one year.

Speak to schools, libraries and education chiefs in your area and see how the internet is affecting classes – is it a hindrance or a help?

Are some school children really missing out on vital education by a lack of access…..or are they just missing out on Facebook.
