The dreaded parents’ evening could be a thing of the past if education secretary Ed Balls gets his way.

The cabinet minister is urging schools to explore other ways of communicating with the families of its pupils as the popularity of parents’ evenings appears to wane.

Canvass some opinions of head teachers to see how they feel about the evenings and what interesting plans they may have for passing on pupil progress – or lack of it!
