University of Kent – Centre for Journalism

The Centre for Journalism at the University of Kent sets a new standard of excellence in journalism education.

It offers the first BA to teach cutting edge convergent multimedia journalism from day one and in a live newsroom environment.

The MA in Multimedia Journalism teaches top graduates everything they need to know to compete for jobs in the modern news industry.

The BA and MA degrees are fully accredited by the National Council for the Training of Journalists. They are based in the Centre’s state-of-the-art multimedia newsrooms on the University’s award-winning Medway Campus. Students learn in dedicated radio and television studios and file their journalism to a unique multimedia website.

Combining intense academic and vocational learning throughout, they are taught by senior professional journalists with experience in radio, television, print and online and by academic leaders in the fields of politics, history and law.

English speaking students come from every cornmer of the UK, Europe and the wider world to study in the Centre for Journalism. They are guaranteed work placements with the Kent Messenger Group and many publish newspaper and video reports before they graduate.

Admission is competitive and conducted via interview, entrance test and public examination/degree results.
