Union to host online bullying forum

The National Union of Journalists is hosting an online forum next week as part of its ‘Stop Bullying’ campaign.

The forum will be an opportunity for journalists to question the NUJ’s legal officer Roy Mincoff and equality officer Lena Calvert about bullying at work.

The forum is being hosted on nuj.org.uk between noon and 2pm and 6pm and 8pm on September 25. Questions can be submitted in advance to [email protected] – all participants’ anonymity will be maintained.


The Jewish Chronicle has launched an online social network as part of a website revamp.

Visitors to thejc.com can now upload their own photos and videos, write blogs and comments on news stories and meet up with other fans of the London-based title.

Last month, a Beta version of the site was launched which enabled the weekly title to post breaking stories and video reports and host blogs.

The newspaper plans to make video reporting a regular feature with editorial staff currently undergoing training.


Jerry Wright has been appointed as the new chief executive of the Audit Bureau of Circulation.

He will commence his post on October 13 and takes over from Chris Boyd who has left ABC after eight years as chief executive.

Jerry has worked for Unilever for many years both in the UK and abroad from between 2004 and 2006 he chaired the Unilever UK Media Trading Committee.


A district councillor is campaigning for reinstatement of local free delivery services of the Kidderminster Shuttle.

On his blog, Coun Chris Nicholls, from Wyre Forest District Council, speaks of his “deep concern and disappointment” at parent company Newsquest’s decision to withdraw the service in the villages of Cookley and Wolverley.


The Newspaper Society and local media publishers joined broadcasting watchdog Ofcom for a debate on the delivery and funding of public service content.

The debate was opened by Peter Philips, strategy and market development partner at Ofcom, who said the body would be looking at hybrids of different delivery and funding models for its report due out at the end of September.
