A press photographer who doubles up as his newspaper’s cartoonist is looking to publish his drawings in a book.
Len Copland, chief photographer at the Western Gazette, has been encapsulating the Dorset and Somerset news in his weekly pictures for the last 12 months.
Now his artistic alias Daisy – named after his daughter – is proving so popular that the 46-year-old snapper is collecting the drawings together in the hope of getting them published.
Len, who has had no professional artistic training, said: “I’ve always doodled and about a year ago my editor Tim Dixon saw me drawing and just asked me to do some bits for the paper. I was very keen so just went for it.
“The pictures could be about anything in the news. I’ve done a big two-page drawing about the Glastonbury Festival.
“One of the reporters is collecting the drawings all together and I would like to publish a book. It seems to be picking up fans.”
