PA snapper takes top prize at Ireland awards

Press Association photographer Niall Carson has been named Photojournalist of the Year by the Press Photographers Association of Ireland.
As well as scooping the top prize, Niall also came first in the Arts category for a picture of the Russian dance troupe Derevo at the Dublin film festival. He also took second spot in the People category for his shot of Sinn Fein’s Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness after a Belfast press conference.


Online recruiter jobsite.co.uk and the Berkshire Media Group have announced a new partnership. The agreement enables cross posting of job vacancies between Jobsite and Berkshire Media Group’s regional sites. Berkshire Media Group owns Reading Evening Post and the Surrey Advertiser.


Regional newspaper publisher Johnston Press has appointed Lori Cunningham as digital strategy director. Lori joins the Group on March 10 and will be responsible for leading and developing the group’s digital strategy.
Lori has an MBA from the Columbia Business School and has worked at AOL UK and media and communications company Booz Allen & Hamilton.


The Scotsman has expanded its coverage of lower league football.
Scottish divisions one, two and three will now receive their own page of coverage in the expanded Saturday sports section.


The Magazine – Manchester and Cheshire’s lifestyle title – has closed. The free publication was launched in 2004 by Nicola Smith, sister of Bill Wyman’s ex Mandy Smith, but December’s issue proved to be its last.
